ResQ - Wearable for
First Responders
Equipping Heroes, Saving Lives
Project type: Product Design
Project Duration: 5 Weeks
SYNOPSIS
ResQ is the outcome of collaborative innovation triggered by a classroom assignment that required us to design physical products with digital interfaces. Each team member proposed three ideas, exploring the growing world of connected devices and the Internet of Things (IoT). Following a collective decision, we developed the ResQ band—a life-changing wearable designed specifically for first responders, combining physical and digital elements seamlessly. This project highlighted our dedication to innovative design solutions, focusing on products with screens as required by the assignment.
Pitch
ResQ, the life-changing, life-saving wearable for first responders. ResQ is a cutting-edge forearm device designed to empower police officers and EMS personnel with instant access to Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), and real-time patient information. With a seamless interface, ResQ enhances response times, improves decision-making, and prioritizes the safety of responders and communities alike. Elevate your team's capabilities with ResQ, where every second counts in delivering swift, efficient, and life-saving responses.

How it Works
User-Focused Design | Co-Creation
Prioritizes user needs and comfort, integrating into the responder's forearm without hindering mobility. The wearable is lightweight, durable, and ergonomic to enhance the experience during emergency situations.
Efficient Data Access
Streamlined interface allows first responders quick and easy access to critical information. Intuitive touch controls or voice commands minimize distractions, enabling responders to focus on tasks while staying informed in real-time.
Interoperability & Integration
Seamlessly integrates with existing first responder technologies and communication systems (e.g. Spillman). Facilitates data sharing devices to enhance collaboration and provide a comprehensive overview of the emergency.
Safety First
Includes advanced safety functionalities, biometric monitoring and automatic distress alerts. Prioritizes the well-being of first responders and contributes to efficient emergency response.
Features
Rapid Access w/Forearm mounted MDTs
ResQ places a Mobile Data Terminal on the responder's wrist, providing quick access to vital details, such as emergency contact information, medical history, and incident reports.
Connectivity via FirstNet for seamless CAD integration
ResQ prioritizes seamless communication through its utilization of FirstNet. This dedicated network ensures a robust and uninterrupted connection between all ResQ users and the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Real-Time Patient Information Management
ResQ allows responders to retrieve and update crucial medical details on the spot. The seamless interface ensures EMS personnel can deliver life-saving interventions without delays caused by information retrieval.
Who is it for?
Paramedics & EMS
Access real-time patient information when every second counts. Alert other units on scene and get more than two hands on a patient when exigent circumstances.
Firefighters
Stay alert and safe with live mapping of where you are in a building, and who is around you.
Aiding in quick and safe
responses in different situations
Firefighters
Coordinate with other officers during high stress situations, silently contact dispatch for more units to avoid escalation, and much more.
Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement can use ResQ to stay connected, receive timely updates, and alert their station.
College Campuses
Campus Police and Public Safety Offices can use ResQ to easily document cases and stay connected with other officers.
Sports Events
Security teams can keep fans safe and report hazards or other emergencies.
